Jurassic World: Fallen Kaledom - Show Notes

In this episode of The Lettuce Podcast, Charlotte and Laura head back to Isla Nublar to check out the dinosaurs in the new movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. They discuss characters old and new, the reality of the story, and whether they want another movie. Charlotte notes her disappointment in the misuse Claire Dearing's strengths, but appreciates the comic relief of the IT specialist Franklin Webb. Laura wishes for more backstory on Owen Grady, and discusses why she felt Maisie Lockwood was the most interesting character. Together the hosts share joy in the dinosaur doctor Zia, reveal which dinosaur was their favorite, and discuss whether the film fits the franchise. Is creating a stronger, fiercer dinosaur always going to be a plot point for the Jurassic World franchise? Should an action movie about dinosaurs also explore morality? And do Claire and Owen really need to have a romantic relationship? All these topics and more are up for debate on this week's episode.

For Fun & Games, Charlotte and Laura take a Buzzfeed quiz to find out what dinosaur they are. They also use a name generator to pick out what the unique dinosaur names. Play along and post your results in the comments section.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nettles - Show Notes

This week on The Podcast, Laura and Charlotte return to Sweden to finish the original Millenium Trilogy with The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. They chat about the trial of Lisbeth Salander, Erika Berger's professional strife, and Mikhael Blomkvist's endless supply of lovers. Laura explains why Annika Gianini becomes a one of her favorite characters, and which characters she felt served as palette cleansers. Charlotte talks about the stupidity of Prosecutor Ekstrom, and shares how much she appreciated Monica Figueroa. Together the girls also question the satisfaction of the final book in the trilogy, reveal their favorite part of the book, and so much more. Can Lisbeth overcome her mistrust of authority figures in order to save herself? Can Erika Berger survive the monstrous Svenska Morgen-Posten? And, how the hell does Mikhael keep his job? All these questions and asked (and potentially answered) in this week's episode.

For Fun & Games, Laura and Charlotte dust off the Sorting Hat to decide if the Millenium characters belong in Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. They also take a buzzfeed quiz called "Which Strong Female Literary Character are You Based on Your Taste in Dessert?"  Play along and share your result in the comment section of this post.
