week on The Lettuce Podcast, Charlotte and Laura celebrate their 50th
episode by engaging in a rap battle! For this episode, entitled the
Hip Hop Double Step, each host brought 3 albums by some of their
favorite hip hop artists to the table. Laura's choices included some
classic hip hop such as the Notorious B.I.G.'s Ready to Die
and Nas' Illmatic while
Charlotte kept the conversation current with selections like Iggy
Azalea's The New Classic
and Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV.
The hosts compare and contrast their choices while discussing style,
songs, lyrics, and more. Laura explains how her choices helped to set
the foundation for her love of the hip hop genre. Charlotte talks
about fast-paced rapping and how it keeps her interested in current
hip hop style. Is Missy Elliot better by herself with with featured
artists? Does repetition help or hurt Nas' “One Love”? Is Iggy
Azalea's vocal style unique or grating? All these questions and more
are answered in this week's special 50th
episode of The Lettuce Podcast.
For
the Fun & Games segment, Laura and Charlotte test their knowledge
of rappers' real names with a Buzzfeed quiz. They also take some time
to reflect on the past 50 episode of The Lettuce Podcast and discuss
their favorite and least favorite topics, what they've learned since
beginning the podcast, and tease some upcoming topics!
When
talking about hip hop, there is one drink above all that must be
imbibed: champagne! While both Laura and Charlotte wished they could
have enjoyed a flute of Cristal, they had to settle for a less
prestigious brand.
