Thor: The Dark Weed

Travel to Asgard on this week's new episode of The Lettuce Podcast! Laura and Charlotte review the second film in the Thor branch of the MCU, Thor: The Dark World. They discuss the film's flimsy plot, how it fits into the MCU story arc, which characters actually get development, and more. Laura points out issues with story telling and the films length, and shares her feelings on Jane's lack of character in the film. Charlotte discusses Malekith's underwhelming presence as a villain, and champions Loki as the films most entertaining character. Together the girls celebrate Frigga's badass combat skills, appreciate Darcy as comic relief, and agree that the all-star cast did the best they could. Who is the real main chracter of Thor: The Dark World? Is Darcy a better romantic match for Thor? And is this the worst film in the MCU canon? All this and most is discussed on this week's episode.

To counteract this underwhelming film, Laura and Charlotte play two of their favorite games in the Fun & Games segment: Marvel Madlibs and Alphabet sentence. Nothing livens up a dull movie than using silly words to describe the action!

For this week's cocktail, Laura made a Thor's Hammer. There are several recipes for this beverage, with a range of ingredients, available online. If you'd like to try this vodka-based one click here!

The Dark Kelp - Show Notes

Why so serious? Because this week on The Lettuce Podcast, Laura and Charlotte welcome guest Cory (of the Three Angry Nerds Podcast) to discuss Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. And there's no hiding it- they ALL love this movie! They talk about the impact this film had on the comic book movie industry, why it's never been matched despite the rise of incredible comic book films, and (of course) Heath Ledger's amazing performance as The Joker. Laura explains she feels why the moral quandaries presented in the film help to make the viewer more engaged in the story. Charlotte compares the performances of Katie Holmes' and Maggie Gyllenhaal's Rachel Dawes character, explaining why she appreciates both and who she ultimately enjoys more. Cory brings a new energy into the show with his knowledge of the comic book series to help the girls get a grasp on how this film relates, while also sharing an infectious excitement for the film. All three engage in a truly fun and exciting love-fest over this wonderful film- you won't want to skip this episode! Is Heath Ledger's the best on-screen portrayal of The Joker? Do we even need to put that question up for debate? Are you going to listen to our comments on it anyway? All these fun topics and more are discussed on this week's episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

Laura, Charlotte, and Cory had an extra fun Fun & Games segment, which they began by finding their Superhero Names. All three agreed that the quiz had a strange method with 100% awesome results! They closed our the segment with a Lettuce Podcast favorite: Madlibs. For this round, Laura used the plot summary on the back of The Dark Knight DVD which produced even more hilarious results than usual.

The Lettuceheads and guest Cory enjoyed 3 podtails this week: A Bruce Wayne approved glass of red wine for Charlotte, a purple-and-green cocktail called The Joker (make your own!) for Laura, and an appropraitely named cocktail called The Dark Knight (make your own!) for Cory.
