Star Wars: The Lettuce Jedi - Show Notes

**NOTE: This episode CONTAINS SPOILERS and these show notes may also CONTAIN SPOILERS. Please do not continue unless you have watched Star Wars:The Last Jedi.**

This week on The Lettuce Podcast, Charlotte and Laura become one with the Force while they talk about the new film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi! The hosts navigate this latest installment in the quest for galactic good with Charlotte at the helm. She and Laura talk about the wealth of badass female characters (and some males, too!), how Disney has affected the franchise, how cute Porgs are, and so much more. Charlotte applauds Carrie Fischer's performance as General Organa, but disapproves of the budding relationship between Finn and Rose. Laura expresses frustration with the films villains, but satisfaction with Luke Skywalker's story arc. Together, the girls argue about the likeability of Poe Dameron, discuss which plot points surprised them, and wonder what's next for the franchise. Does Rey have character flaws or is she a Mary Sue? Has the identity of Rey parents been truly revealed? And are Adam Driver's lips distracting?? All these very important questions and more are up for debate on this week's episode.

In the Fun & Games segment, Charlotte and Laura play the original TLP game: Kill, Marry, Pity Date. They also take a quiz to find out which character from The Last Jedi they are. and reveal the results of their weekly Twitter poll. Which of the original Star Wars trilogy films is the favorite among TLP listeners? You'll have to listen to find out!

This week's podtail was the fun and customizable Lightsaber cocktail. Laura used melon liquer to make a green lightsaber. You can use grenadine for a red lightsaber and blue curacao for a blue lightsaber. Get the recipe here.

Beauty and the Beets - Show Notes

This week's episode of The Lettuce Podcast features a tale as old as thyme. Charlotte moderates a discussion about the newly released live action Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson! She and Laura enjoy a cup of tea while chatting about the magical cast of characters, songs both old and new, and plot updates added to this fairy tale classic. They were also excited to share a message from their old pal Tori, who researched the original Beauty and the Beast fairy tale for a segment of "Source Ma-Tori-al". Charlotte shares her joy in the new details about Belle, the Beast, and Gaston's back stories while appreciating some details that were kept true to the 1991 animated film. Laura favors new character development given to both Belle and the Beast, but enjoyed character mainstays like Mrs. Potts. Additionally, the girls discuss which actors had the best embodiment of their characters, if there should be more live action remakes of classic Disney films, and whether they enjoyed Emma Watson's singing voice. Was Belle an underdeveloped character in the 1991 animated film? Does Gaston have genuine intentions, but fail in execution? And is Lumiere a passionate lover or just a creepy candelabra? All these questions and more are up for discussion on this week's episode!

The Fun & Games segment for this episode about Beauty and the Beast featured the Lettuce Podcast's favorite game: Kill, Marry, Pity Date. Charlotte and Laura also finally answered a question that has plagued TLP for quite some time: Which Disney Princess Are You?

For this week's podtail, both hosts enjoyed a cup of tea. Laura favored an on-topic rose tea prepared with a traditional china tea set while Charlotte sipped on a cup of Earl Grey!

Cinderella - Show Notes

Happy New Year, Lettuce Heads! Our New Year's bonus episode is all about counting down to midnight. Charlotte moderates this episode about the magical fairy tale, Cinderella. Laura and Tori join her to discuss the 2015 live action film and compare it to the 1950 animated classic. Charlotte discusses the controversy surrounding the small waist of the film's title character. Tori's "Source Ma-Tori-al" segment returns and she shares the similarities between the original fairy tales (both Grimm & Perrault) and the movie adaptations. Laura rejoices at the appearance of Helena Bonham Carter in an atypical role. All three girls compare the live action and animated versions with some surprising conclusions. How does the concept of a Fairy Godmother relate to the concept of karma? Are goodness and kindness the only things you need to be able to obtain your goals? Shouldn't Cinderella and the Prince have gone on a couple dates before getting married? All these topics and more are discussed on this special bonus episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

Charlotte, Laura, and Tori give their ratings out of 5 chards for both the live action and animated films. Which film ended up with the best rating? You'll have to listen to find out! The Fun  & Games segment closed out 2015 with a classic game and a new favorite: Alphabet Sentence and Madlibs. Both games always challenge the hosts to access their creative sides and produce many laughs. This episode was no exception.

This episode's Podsnack: a pumpkin pudding parfait made by Laura and inspired by a classic Cinderella image: the pumpkin carriage.
This episodes Podtail: some delicious champagne, provided by Tori, to celebrate the New Year!
