Gilmore Grass S3 - Show Notes

The Lettuce Podcast is back from vacation and ready for action! Charlotte and Laura cover one of their favorite topics: Gilmore Girls. This visit to Stars Hollow is all about Season 3, Rory's boy troubles, Lorelai's professional improvements, Lane's rock band, and much more. Charlotte shares why she is Team Jess, which Season 3 episode is her favorite, and why she appreciate Lorelai's search for love. Laura explains her feelings about Rory and Dean's break-up, Lane's and Paris' first boyfriends, and what gave Luke more dimension as a character. Together they discuss Lorelai's problems with Christopher, wish for more important plot-lines for Sookie, and throw shade at Richard's surprise Yale interview. Did Lorelai's relationship with Alex serve a purpose or was it just a boring detail? Are Rory and Jess really a perfect match? And how crazy is Jackson for wanting four-in-four?! All this and more on this week's visit to Stars Hollow on The Lettuce Podcast!

Charlotte and Laura channeled the Gilmore Girls to play a game of Create-A-Snack where they chose junk food combinations to eat. They also played a classic TLP/GG game, 1-2-3-He's Yours!

Inspired by the “Eight O'Clock At The Oasis” episode featuring a young Jon Hamm, Charlotte and Laura shared a glass of wine as this week's podtail.

Goldenlettuce (James Bond) - Show Notes

The Lettuce Podcast is back on a mission with 007 himself, James Bond. On this week's episode, Laura and Charlotte chat about Pierce Brosnan's first film as the famous British spy, Goldeneye. They chat about all things Bond including the modernization of the franchise, wacky gadgets, ridiculous Bond Girl names, and more. Laura reveals why she thinks Brosnan has the look of Bond, but misses the mark on personality. Charlotte expresses appreciation for the intelligent and capable Bond Girl, Natalya. Together the girls discuss Tina Turner's performance of “Goldeneye”, the amazing Judi Dench's near 20 year run as M, and the movie's most iconic action sequence (Psst- it involves a TANK!). Does 1995's James Bond revival film hold up against the current 007 films? Which Goldeneye Bond gadgets inadvertently predicted the future of technology? And is Xenia Onatopp a satisfying henchwoman or just a sexy weirdo?

For the Fun & Games segment, Laura challenges Charlotte to a game of “Is This A Bond Girl?” where she is given a list of names and has to determine which are real characters from the 007 film franchise. Play along and tell us your results in the comments! The girls also dust off one of their favorite TLP games, Alphabet Sentence, which produces strange results. All this fun and more on this week's episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

This week's podtail was the only appropriate drink for James Bond: a martini!

Oregano (Origin, Dan Brown) - notes

The Lettuce Podcast is wrapping up its review of 2017 with the year's biggest book: Origin by Dan Brown. Laura and Charlotte are both long-time Dan Brown fans and are excited to bring this puzzling series to the podcast. They chat about Robert Landgon, the new characters he meets, and whether the plot is believeable. Laura explains how the plot got accidentally spoiled for her, and which character rubbed her the wrong way. Charlotte shares what she enjoyed about the relationship between Robert and sassy sidekick Ambra, and which character she found the most surprising. Together the hosts discuss the use of A.I. as a main character in Winston, the relationship between science and religion in the novel, whether or not the story had enough puzzles, and more. Was Edmond Kirsch's battle with cancer portrayed realistically? Is he an eccentric innovator or just a nerdy jerk? And who should play the role of Robert Langdon in a movie if Tom Hanks doesn't? All these questions and more are discussed on this week's episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

For Fun & Games, Charlotte and Laura played Dream Casting to determine which actors should play the novel's characters in a feature film. They also took a chance at innovation by creating their dream A.I.'s and determining what these intelligences would do. Play along & share your casting/A.I. choices in a comment.

Inspired by the Spanish setting in Origin, both hosts sipped on fruity sangria for their podtails!

Kingsman: Secret Spinach - show notes

The Lettuce Podcast is celebrating 3 years of podcasting with a special BONUS episode! The topic up for discussion was selected by The Lettuce Podcast listeners (aka Lettuceheads!): Kingsman: Secret Service! Charlotte and Laura discuss the star-studded cast, the films similarities to the James Bond franchise, favorite weapons, and more. Charlotte shares her opinion on the films cool henchwoman, Gazelle, and why she enjoyed the friendship between Eggsy and Roxy. Laura questions the story arch of Harry Hart, and shares which Kingsman Academy training scene she liked the most. Together the girls discuss whether Eggsy is a Mary Sue, reveal which character surprised them, and speculate on what happens next. Is Kingsman: Secret Service more violent than necessary? What's the deal with Valentine and Arthur? And where can we get a tailor that doubles as a quartermaster?? All this and more on this special 3 year anniversary episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

Charlotte and Laura started off the Fun & Games segment with the first and favorite TLP game: Kill, Marry, Pity Date! Their second game was Create-A-Weapon, where each host took her turn imagining a fashionable weapon for the Kingsman. Leave a comment to share what type of clothes-based weapon you would want.

For a podtail, Laura chose to sip on a Guinness just like Harry Hart!
