The Bluebells of Scotland - Show Notes

Get your bagpipes tuned and don your kilts – The Lettuce Podcast is celebrating great rock bands from Scotland! In this episode, Laura introduces Charlotte to three rock bands from the highlands – Garbage, Franz Ferdinand, and Belle & Sebastian. They listen to a couple albums from each band and discuss their impressions of the music, what makes each band unique, favorite/unfavorite tracks, and more. Laura explains her connection to each band and how they've fit into her life and then become a favorite. Charlotte shares which of theses three new-to-her bands is her favorite and which band she'd heard on the radio before. They also talk about which band's lyrics were more scandalous than they initially realized, which song made Charlotte cry, and which album's experimental songs didn't work. After conversing about each artist's music and style, each album is rated on a scale of 1 to 5 Chards. Which album got the highest rating from the two hosts? Which band reminded Charlotte of Rocky Horror Picture Show? Which artist may have been the secret inspiration for Laura's hair color? All these topics and more are discussed on this week's episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

Feeling inspired by the creativity of music, Charlotte and Laura flex their creative muscles by writing haiku about these Killer Scottish Bands. They then close out the Fun & Games segment by taking a Buzzfeed quiz to determine how Scottish they are.

This episode's podtail was a bit of a cultural mash-up. Charlotte enjoyed some (Scottish?) sangria and Laura sipped on Belhaven Scottish Ale. Slainte! Here's tae ye!

Bloodsucking Ramp-pires (The Twilight Saga) - Show Notes

We know what you are, Lettuce Heads - vampires. Say it loud and proud with The Lettuce Podcast as Charlotte and Laura examine all 5 movies from The Twilight Saga. Charlotte introduces Laura to the world of sparkly vampires and attempts to help her understand the ins and outs of Bella Swan's universe. They chat about the humongous cast of characters, the story-line of each film, the unique qualities of vampires and wolves in this world, and all of the things that make this film series delightfully ridiculous. Charlotte explains why she thinks Bella feels out-of-place as a human, but how those emotions better translate to typical teenage discomfort. Laura explains her frustration with Bella's mother and how upsetting she found the set up to the entire story. Both hosts agree on a favorite vampire character in Alice, but disagree on the uniqueness of the vampire qualities in this story. Charlotte and Laura also reveal whether they are Team Edward or Team Jacob! Is Edward Cullen's pretty face enough to make up for his boring personality? Why is Bella so attractive to every teenage boy she meets? Why couldn't Kristin Stewart and Robert Pattinson display any chemistry on screen despite being a real-life romantic couple? All these topics and more are on the table on this week's episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

The ratings section brings a mediocre-to-bad showing for The Twilight Saga - listen to find out how it scored out of 5 Chards. For Fun & Games, the girls felt it necessary to play a round of Kill, Marry, Pity Date. Laura also put Charlotte to the test with a homemade quiz called "Edward or Jacob". 10 quotes were read and Charlotte guessed which words were said by Edward and which were said by Jacob. Play along and tell us how you did in the comments of this post!

For today's podtail, Laura mixed a Vampire Kiss (some may know it as Vampire Bite) and Charlotte enjoyed red wine - two bloody looking drinks for this bloody topic.
