Gilmore Gourds (Season 1) - Show Notes

It's an exciting week for The Lettuce Podcast! Charlotte moderates this week's episode, with Laura in tow, about a shared favorite television show: Season 1 of Gilmore Girls. Both hosts were very excited to talk, talk, talk, and talk some more about this female forward series. The girls have a real gabfest about the townies, boyfriends, school frenemies, and the titular Gilmore family. They also reveal their favorite episodes and plots of the first season. Charlotte shares why she enjoys the character of Sookie, but still struggles with Melissa McCarthy as an actress. Laura makes a case for Dean as a decent first boyfriend, though she can't defend everything he does. The hosts also talk about who their favorite characters (Lorelai and Rory, duh!) and you may be surprised by some of the choices! Is Lorelai truly ignoring her feelings for Luke or is she simply not ready to accept them? Is Max a good fit for Lorelai? Are Charlotte and Laura Team Dean, Team Luke, Team Max, Team Lorelai, or Team Rory? Listen to find out!

For the Fun & Games segment, the hosts take a quiz to determine which Gilmore Girls guy is their soulmate. Then they play their favorite TLP game: Kill, Marry, Pity Date. This time around, the girls decided to play in the style of Lorelai and Rory's game "1, 2, 3... He's Yours!" and the result was a fun twist on an old favorite.

There is only one drink to have when talk about Gilmore Girls: coffee! For this week's podtail, Laura enjoyed a delicious cup of GG-approved coffee with a splash of Irish Cream to make it a true cocktail.

Laura's Music Madness - Show Notes

Grab your earbuds, Lettuce Heads, this week's episode is all about Laura's Music Madness! The Lettuce Podcast delves into six albums by some of Laura's favorite musicians including the Clash, Amy Winehouse, and more. She and Charlotte share their favorite/unfavorite tracks from each album, discuss style and musicianship, and share overall impressions of each album. Laura gushes about a young Amy Winehouse on her debut album Frank and the Clash's classic double album London Calling. Charlotte shares her feelings on Liz Phair's Exile in Guyville and how the album found her at a perfect time in her life. Both girls share the love of First Aid Kit, but don't see eye to eye on Stankonia. Are the Go-Gos the soundtrack to every teenage girl's life? Is “B.O.B.” an impressive display of rap skills or too repetitive? Which album got the highest rating out of 5 Chards and which got the lowest? Tune in to this week's episode to find out!

For the Fun & Games segment, Laura and Charlotte did one of their favorite activities for music episodes: haiku! Each host wrote a themed music haiku and the results were entertaining as always. They also played a game of music Madlibs (another favorite!) using a paragraph from the music Wikipedia page.

To celebrate her special music day, Laura picked a favorite drink as her podtail: spiced wine!
