Oregano (Origin, Dan Brown) - notes

The Lettuce Podcast is wrapping up its review of 2017 with the year's biggest book: Origin by Dan Brown. Laura and Charlotte are both long-time Dan Brown fans and are excited to bring this puzzling series to the podcast. They chat about Robert Landgon, the new characters he meets, and whether the plot is believeable. Laura explains how the plot got accidentally spoiled for her, and which character rubbed her the wrong way. Charlotte shares what she enjoyed about the relationship between Robert and sassy sidekick Ambra, and which character she found the most surprising. Together the hosts discuss the use of A.I. as a main character in Winston, the relationship between science and religion in the novel, whether or not the story had enough puzzles, and more. Was Edmond Kirsch's battle with cancer portrayed realistically? Is he an eccentric innovator or just a nerdy jerk? And who should play the role of Robert Langdon in a movie if Tom Hanks doesn't? All these questions and more are discussed on this week's episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

For Fun & Games, Charlotte and Laura played Dream Casting to determine which actors should play the novel's characters in a feature film. They also took a chance at innovation by creating their dream A.I.'s and determining what these intelligences would do. Play along & share your casting/A.I. choices in a comment.

Inspired by the Spanish setting in Origin, both hosts sipped on fruity sangria for their podtails!

The topic up for discussion was selected by The Lettuce Podcast listeners (aka Lettuceheads!): Kingsman: Secret Service! Charlotte and Laura discuss the star-studded cast, the films similarities to the James Bond franchise, favorite weapons, and more. Charlotte shares her opinion on the films cool henchwoman, Gazelle, and why she enjoyed the friendship between Eggsy and Roxy. Laura questions the story arch of Harry Hart, and shares which Kingsman Academy training scene she liked the most. What's the deal with Valentine and Arthur? And where can we get a tailor that doubles as a quartermaster?? All this and more on this special 3 year anniversary episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

Charlotte and Laura started off the Fun & Games segment with the first and favorite TLP game: Kill, Marry, Pity Date! Parsnip to Parsnip (Mad Men S7) - Show Notes

Laura and Charlotte are excited to wrap up another series on this week's episode: Mad Men! They join the gang on Madison Avenue one last time to discuss Season 7 and review the series as a whole. Laura notes how the ending to Don's story is ambiguous and layered, while lauding Joan's arc from gold-digging secretary to independent business woman. Charlotte shares her happiness with Pete finally getting his life together, and Peggy success with both business and romance (STAN, FTW!). Together the girls discuss the portrayal of the moon landing, Sally's relationship with her parents, and the role of the Vietnam War in the final episodes of the series.

Did Don really manipulate Megan out of her career? What is the true meaning behind the final shot of the legendary "I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke" campaign? And will we ever be able to get the image of Ginsberg's severed nipple out of our heads?? All these subjects and more are discussed on the final Mad Men episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

The Fun & Games segment featured the last ever round of Mad Men Madlibs. Laura challenged Charlotte to rewrite Peggy's iconic Burger Chef pitch. You won't want to miss the hilarious result!

In a tribute to Betty's redemptive arc in Season 7, Laura sipped on a favorite of Betty's: the Lime Gimlet!
