Beauty and the Beets - Show Notes

This week's episode of The Lettuce Podcast features a tale as old as thyme. Charlotte moderates a discussion about the newly released live action Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson! She and Laura enjoy a cup of tea while chatting about the magical cast of characters, songs both old and new, and plot updates added to this fairy tale classic. They were also excited to share a message from their old pal Tori, who researched the original Beauty and the Beast fairy tale for a segment of "Source Ma-Tori-al". Charlotte shares her joy in the new details about Belle, the Beast, and Gaston's back stories while appreciating some details that were kept true to the 1991 animated film. Laura favors new character development given to both Belle and the Beast, but enjoyed character mainstays like Mrs. Potts. Additionally, the girls discuss which actors had the best embodiment of their characters, if there should be more live action remakes of classic Disney films, and whether they enjoyed Emma Watson's singing voice. Was Belle an underdeveloped character in the 1991 animated film? Does Gaston have genuine intentions, but fail in execution? And is Lumiere a passionate lover or just a creepy candelabra? All these questions and more are up for discussion on this week's episode!

The Fun & Games segment for this episode about Beauty and the Beast featured the Lettuce Podcast's favorite game: Kill, Marry, Pity Date. Charlotte and Laura also finally answered a question that has plagued TLP for quite some time: Which Disney Princess Are You?

For this week's podtail, both hosts enjoyed a cup of tea. Laura favored an on-topic rose tea prepared with a traditional china tea set while Charlotte sipped on a cup of Earl Grey!

Field Mix: Dynamic Duos - Show Notes

This episode of The Lettuce Podcast is all about Dynamic Duos! Inspired by their own dynamic pairing, Laura and Charlotte share their favorite two-person bands in the first music topic of 2017. The selections include Best Coast, The Civil Wars, The Ting-Tings, and The Kills. Laura shares which band's music gets stuck in her head, which of Charlotte's picks she found surprising, and which music was not her cup of tea. Charlotte talks about discovering new music for this topic, which bands lyrics are her favorite, and her surprise at knowing most of one of Laura's selections. Both hosts share stories about how they discovered these bands, share their favorite/least favorite tracks, and give a rating for each album. Is Best Coast good in their niche genre or do they need to grow? How much does excellent musicianship affect a listener's opinion? And which albums got the best and worst ratings from The Lettuce Podcast? All this and more on this week's episode.

For the Fun & Games segment, Laura and Charlotte first do their favorite music topic activity: haiku. They also put their musical knowledge to the test with a quiz about famous duets. Play along and comment on this page with your score.

This episode was a rare morning time recording, so the girls enjoyed some classic brunch drinks as their podtails. Charlotte sipped on OJ while Laura had some coffee with a splash of peppermint schnapps.
