Radicchio Player One - Show Notes

Ready Player Lettucehead – The Lettuce Podcast is setting out on the gunt for Anorak's Easter egg in this week's episode about Ernest Cline's Ready Player One. Charlotte hosts this 80's infused episode where she and Laura welcome guest Cory into the mix. Together they chat about the unlikely hero in Wade Watts/Parzival, the advantages and dangers of the OASIS, and the many pop culture references made in the book. Charlotte applauds the presence of strong female characters like Art3mis in the book. Laura wonders if Parzival's character is a Mary Sue. Cory fanboys over the inclusion of Ultraman in several pivotal scenes of the novel. They also share their feelings about the book's villain Nolan Sorrento (jerk!), the army of IOI workers out to find the egg (suxors!), their favorite surprise plot twist (listen to find out!), and so much more. Is the Halliday & Morrow duo modeled after Jobs & Wozniak? Does Wade's fascination with the OASIS help or hurt his real life? And how long do we have to wait before Flick-Syncs are a real thing? All these topics and more are discussed on this week's episode!

Charlotte, Laura, and Cory started the Fun & Games segment by completing a How 80's Are You? checklist, yielding some interesting results. Charlotte also tested out a new game called What Would You Do. This game asks the hosts to put themselves in the shoes of the main character and decide what actions to take. Charlotte, Laura, and Cory each discussed what they would do with the prize money and company ownership that come with finding Halliday's Easter egg.

Gardens of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 - Show Notes

This week on The Lettuce Podcast, Charlotte and Laura catch up with Marvel's ragtag group of misfits in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2! They discuss the complex cast of characters, plot points, humor, and music. Charlotte explains her frustration with Gamora's lack of character development, but enjoys the introduction of a new female character, Mantis. Laura shares new appreciation for Yondu and Nebula, while questioning if the film's plot served the over MCU storyline. Together the hosts discuss the various relationships friendly, romantic, and familial that develop over the course of the film and what they think about Baby Groot's cute factor. Is Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 just a continuation of the introduction we got in the first film? Is Peter Quill truly the leader of this group of heroes?
