Tony Stalk is Iron Man - Show Notes

The next stop on The Lettuce Podcast's chronological journey through the MCU is 2008's Iron Man! Charlotte and Laura review the MCU's flagship film and discuss its characters, relationship to the wildly successful franchise, what makes Iron Man different, and much more. Charlotte shares why Yinsen is one of her favorite characters in the film, and wonders why Pepper didn't go by Virginia. Laura explains why she immediately picked out the film's villain, and wishes Rhodes had more character development. Together they debate Tony Stark's moral standing, discuss why the movie feels erratic, reveal their favorite scenes from the film, and more. What makes Iron Man different from the other Avengers? How does Iron Man fit into the MCU? And is this movie secretly really boring? All this and more are discussed on this week's brand new episode of The Lettuce Podcast.

For Fun & Games, Charlotte and Laura first play a round of Sorting Hat and sort the characters of Iron Man into their appropriate Hogwarts Houses. They flex their creative muscles by pitching additional gadgets and abilities for Tony Stark's Iron Man suit. A Mango Called Ove - Show Notes

On this episode of The Lettuce Podcast, Charlotte shares a new favorite book with Laura. They review Fredrik Backman's landmark novel A Man Called Ove. They discuss the novel's curmudgeonly hero Ove, his idiotic and lovable neighbors, the theme of death, and more. Charlotte shares why she's so charmed by Ove, and what she thinks of the romance between him and Sonja. Laura explains her struggle (but ultimate appreciation!) with Ove's neighbor Pavarneh, and his interest in Ove's frenemy Rune. Together the girls chat about Backman's unique writing style and chronological structure of the book, how community factors in to Ove's life, and whether they want to review more of Backman's books for the podcast. Can Ove successfully commit suicide despite the constant interruptions from his neighbors? Were Ove and Rune ever truly friends? And what is the deal with Ove and Saabs? All this and more on this week's episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

For the Fun and Games segment, Charlotte and Laura dust off an old TLP favorite, Alphabet Sentence. Charlotte also quizzes Laura to find out how Swedish she is.

Looking for a podtail to sip on while you read A Man Called Ove or listen to this episode? For the brave alcohol enthusiast, try a Death in the Afternoon cocktail. For the sober crowd, try a proper cup of coffee (Ove's favorite) or a tart lemonade (sweet and sour, just like Ove)!
