Fifty Shades Fennel - Show Notes

We're keeping the Valentine's Day love going on this week's episode of The Lettuce Podcast. Charlotte and Laura finish up E.L. James' controversial trilogy with 50 Shades Freed. The girls talk about the climax of the erotic novels, how the characters has changed (or haven't!), which plot points made them crazy, and much more. Charlotte explains why she feels Christian Grey's character is the worst in the third book, and which moment shows Ana's strength. Laura complains about the obscenely short timeline for the series, but cheers for Taylor's character development. Together the girls discuss the BDSM elements, debate the purpose of Gia as a foe for Ana, and imagine which improvements could be made to the story. Charlotte and Laura also take time to compare the new feature film including which scenes they wish had been included and which plot problems the movie fixed. Are Ana and Christian believeable as a destined-to-be-together couple? Will marriage help them hone their communication skills? And how did these books even get published? All these topics and more are discussed on this week's episode.

Charlotte and Laura has a long and lively discussion about 50 Shades Freed and the 50 Shades trilogy, but they did find time for some Fun & Games! Laura created a special 50 Shades quiz for Charlotte called “Is This My Inner Goddess?” where real and fake quotes about Ana's inner goddess were read. Charlotte's job was to pick out which statements were from the books and which Laura made up! Play along and tell us how you did!

Inspired by Ana and Kate's girls night, Laura sipped on a Strawberry Mojito for her podtail. Charlotte sipped on some Sauvignon Blanc, a favorite of Ana's!

Biggest Albums of 2017

This week on The Lettuce Podcast, Laura and Charlotte team up to discuss the biggest albums of 2017*! They talk about their general impressions, most liked songs, disliked songs, and careers of artists like Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Bruno Mars. Charlotte talks about why Taylor Swift's Reputation both calls out and makes light of her position in the music industry. Laura shares why she feels Kendrick Lamar is that best rapper currently making music. Both hosts talk about Ed Sheeran's diverse pop style, wonder what makes Drake special, and dissect the sexism in Bruno Mars' 24k Magic. As a special bonus, the girls reveal their pick for album of the year: Rainbow by Kesha. Is Taylor making fun of her haters or still playing the victim? Can Ed Sheeran successfully make flamenco-flavored pop music? And WHY WASN'T KESHA'S ALBUM MORE SUCCESSFUL!? All of these questions and more are asked (and possibly answered) on this week's episode of The Lettuce Podcast.

For the Fun & Games segment, Laura and Charlotte played a round of their favorite music game: Haiku. They also channeled their inner red-lipped pop princess to find out which Taylor Swift song they are

Taking another cue from T. Swift and the song "Gorgeous", Laura sipped on whiskey on ice as her podtail.
