Fennel Fronted Music - Show Notes

The Lettuce Podcast is celebrating its 100th episode! Laura and Charlotte chose a very special topic for this momentous occasion: Female Fronted Music. The girls sit down to share their favorite female solo artists and bands including Lorde, Rilo Kiley, TLC, and more. Laura shares how her experience with the supremely talented Regina Spektor changed with each listen. Charlotte explained why Hole's music is not her favorite style, but she still appreciated Courtney Love's vocals. Both hosts reminisce about their middle school days with TLC, learn about self-love with Lizzo, and so much more. They also discuss their favorite (and unfavorite!) tracks and award a rating out of 5 chards for each album. Has Lorde grown up in her sophomore album? What elements make up Rilo Kiley's unique sound? And where the hell is Lizzo's phone? All these subjects are presented on this very special 100th episode of The Lettuce Podcast!

Charlotte and Laura began the Fun & Games segment with their standard music episode game: haiku.  Each shared a haiku written with their female artists in mind. The girls then took some time to reflect on the past 100 episodes of The Lettuce Podcast and share their hopes for the future of the show.

This week's podtails where chosen in the spirit of celebration and girls' nights: the kamikaze and champagne!

The Name of the Lettuce - Show Notes

This week on The Lettuce Podcast, Laura and Charlotte embark on a new fantasy adventure: Patrick Rothfuss' The Name of the Wind. Together they discover the wonders of the first book of The Kingkiller Chronicle trilogy. This episode features a jam-packed discussion about the novel's humongous cast of characters, magical University, and truly impressive accomplishments of the story's hero. Laura explains why the many aspects of Kvothe's personality made him both fascinating and frustrating. Charlotte shares why the University portion of the book was her favorite. The girls both talk about the importance of music, the mysterious threat of the Chandrian, what's going on with Denna, and so much more. Does Kvothe's intelligence and natural talent make him susceptible to hubris? What/who are the Chandrian? And will Kvothe ever get his money situation under control? All these topics are up for debate on this week's brand new episode.

The girls have an extra special Fun & Games segment featuring a new game: Dream Casting. Because The Name of the Wind does not have an accompanying film/television series (yet!), Laura and Charlotte discuss which actors should play their favorite characters. Play along and tell us who you think should play Kvothe in a film! They also play a round of Predictions where they share what they think will happen in the next book and aspects of the story they hope will be further explained.

This week's Podtails, inspired by the drinking habits of Kvothe & Denna, included a Chimay beer for Charlotte & strawberry wine for Laura.
