The Hunger Greens

Lettuce volunteer as tribute! In this episode's *surprise* topic, Charlotte guides Laura through the first installment in The Hunger Games trilogy. They chat about the variety of characters in Panem, Suzanne Collins' talent for world building, reading YA fiction, and more. Charlotte explains why she thinks Peeta is just as skilled as Katniss. Laura shares why she's Team Gale. Together the girls discuss whether Katniss is a Mary Sue, their sympathies for the disturbed Cato, and compare the book to its companion film. Is Katniss too harsh on her mother? Is Caesar Flickerman a secret monster? And is the dystopian society built in The Hunger Games a realistic future?

A short Fun & Games segment features Charlotte and Laura playing a Hunger Games themed version of the classic TLP game: Kill, Marry, Pity Date. Play along in the episode and comment on this post with your picks!

Looking to sip on something while listening to this episode or reading/watching The Hunger Games? Mix up this week's podtail, the Girl on Fire. You can find literally dozens of recipes for this drink with a quick Google search. Laura made her own concoction using 2oz fireball whiskey mixed with orange juice and a splash to grenadine to create an ombre fire color. Sweet and spicy, just like Katniss!
