A mus-Star-d is Born - Show Notes





This week, Charlotte and Laura go rogue on their topic planning to see A Star is Born (2018)! They chat about the film's rich history and development in American culture over time, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's acting chops, the music, and more. Charlotte appreciates the complex character structures of both main roles in the film, Ally and Jack, while wondering why Ally didn't resist becoming a pop star. Laura lauds Bradley Cooper's ability to make Jackson Maine a sympathetic character, and shares which scene in the movie she disliked the most. The hosts also discuss the film's portrayal of drug addiction as a disease, which character angered them the most, and the film's somber end. Does Jack's alcoholism really threaten Ally's career?
